German inflation unchanged at 2.3% in Nov, clothing up 0.4%

Germany’s inflation rate has remained unchanged at 2.3 per cent year on year (YoY) in November 2025, matching October and easing slightly from 2.4 per cent in September, according to the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis).

Clothing prices recorded a moderate increase of 0.4 per cent, adding to underlying price pressures.

Energy product prices were 0.1 per cent lower than in November 2024, marking a softer decline compared with a 0.9 per cent YoY drop in October 2025. While easing energy costs provided limited relief, inflation in other major product groups remained elevated, Destasis said in a press release.

Excluding energy, the inflation rate stood at 2.5 per cent in November 2025, unchanged from the previous month. Core inflation, which excludes both food and energy, eased marginally to 2.7 per cent from 2.8 per cent in October. The data indicate that underlying inflationary pressures persist despite stabilisation in headline inflation.

"As the end of year approaches, the development of consumer prices has stabilised for now", said Ruth Brand, President of the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis).
